We are a group of families who believe that Jesus makes Himself known to us through the Bible, the Whole Bible, and Nothing but the Bible. We believe He assumed the burden to seek us, and our responsibility is to repent and follow Him.
Jesus said, “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” In a world where everyone claims they know Jesus, you can see from that verse why we want Jesus to make Himself known to us.
Many churches today try to differentiate themselves as a merchant differentiates a business: through strategy, market appeal, and packaging. There are even TV ads from area mega-churches poking fun at “traditional church”. We make no apology for not fitting the mold of either the post-modern mega-church, the trendy emergent church, or the traditional programmed church. We are, at the core, a preaching and teaching church. In today’s “world of church”, that is unique – and vital.
We don’t want to be told things we want to hear, we want to be taught things that will equip us and empower us to be better Christians. We want the Holy Spirit to teach us the Truths of God’s Word through preaching. We believe that learning those Truths is far more important to our eternity than the social experience of packaged-church. We believe that the obedient practice of what the Bible teaches us will make us more loving to each other and to those we live, work, and play with.
Our preachers, while being educated and studied for the work of pastoral ministry, have full-time jobs in the world like you. We understand worry; working in the world; the burdens of marriage, child rearing, and disease; we understand the struggle of overcoming temptation & sin by hiding God’s Word in our hearts, and living in the power of the Holy Spirit. We think many Christians are exhausted by the noise and fluff of “production-based” churches. The noise and fluff is gone here. We believe, by God’s grace, that this is one place where wicks are trimmed and lamps are filled with oil, where you can “be still and know” that He is God.
By this shall all men know that we are Christ’s disciples: if we have love, one for another. We want to love each other, and you, in a way that the world will know that we belong to Jesus Christ. Please consider visiting us for morning worship, and perhaps spending the afternoon with us in fellowship. It will be unique, because it will be all about the redemptive work of Jesus Christ.
